About the Board
Are you a passionate Michigan Junior, Senior, or Graduate student that is actively involved in school organizations and programs? Are you looking for an opportunity to inform student-centered change within the Michigan community?
If this is you, consider applying to join the Dean of Students Advisory Board.
The Board's primary goal is to provide advice to the Dean of Students on pressing student issues. Throughout the academic year, biweekly meetings encourage discussion on new initiatives and emergent issues. The Board's recommendations help to influence Dean of Student goals, services, and overall effectiveness.
The Advisory Board is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, including students enrolled in Michigan's professional schools (i.e., Law, Social Work).
Each student brings a unique voice and perspective to the table. In addition, the Advisory Board often welcomes Student Life staff members, University officials, and community guests to speak at meetings.
If you are invested in the Michigan Experience, and have a desire to raise awareness of student issues as only a student can, please consider applying for next year's Advisory Board.
Advisory Board members are selected through an application and interview process, which begins in the Winter semester. Interviews are usually in mid March, with final decisions for the board made by the beginning of April.
This year's application is due April 1, 2018. Interviews will be held in the beginning of April.
- One year renewable terms (September-May).
- All board members must attend the mandatory DOS Advisory Board Retreat (9/15/18) and the mandatory Student Life Advisory Board Overview Session.
- Meetings will occur bi-weekly on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 PM.
