Outreach and Recruitment  

High school counselors, caseworkers, teachers, and foster youth advocates play an important role in helping students imagine what is possible after high school. With over 16 years of experience, the U-M Blavin Scholars Program invites partners to help identify and encourage students with experience in foster care or kinship care, as well as students navigating their education without consistent support from parents or guardians.

Eligible students admitted to the University of Michigan can receive more than financial assistance. Blavin Scholars join a close-knit community and benefit from personalized coaching, academic and career guidance, practical resources, and support as they navigate college life.

Partner with us

We welcome opportunities to connect with schools, agencies and nonprofit organizations. The Blavin Scholars team can:

  • Share information about the program and student eligibility
  • Speak with students, families and professionals
  • Participate in college-access and foster youth events
  • Provide materials to support student referrals
  • Help prospective students learn more about the Michigan experience

Together, we can help more students see the University of Michigan as a place where they can belong, succeed and build the future they envision.
