Sarah serves as the Associate Dean of Students in the Dean of Students Office. Her work focuses on providing direct support, resources, and referrals to students who are experiencing life events that are impacting or interrupting their ability to be successful at the University of Michigan ("critical incidents"). Sarah also develops policies and procedures that outline how critical incident response and student support work is done at U-M. She chairs two behavioral intervention teams that bring together various Student Life and campus partners to discuss appropriate interventions for students who are exhibiting behaviors that are having a significant negative impact on self or the community. In addition, Sarah supervises the Beyond the Diag program, which focuses on community building and information-sharing with students who live off-campus. Beyond the Diag also manages the off-campus housing listing service for students seeking off-campus housing.
From 1994 - 2012, Sarah lived and worked in the Washington DC area. She has undergraduate and Masters degrees from The George Washington University (GW) and worked professionally at GW in summer conferences, residence life, and student conduct. While at The Catholic University of America (2004 - 2012) she served as the Assistant Dean of Students and subsequently the Senior Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life, focusing on student support and crisis intervention, student conduct, and residence life. She joined the Dean of Students team at the University of Michigan in November 2012. Sarah earned her PhD in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2023.
